Reception A

Welcome to our class page. Please explore it to find out what children have been learning and how you can help them at home.

In the mornings we practise our Handwriting, Phonics, English and Maths through a range of small group teacher-led and child-initiated learning. In the afternoons we do Plan-Do-Review. During Plan-Do-Review time, the children are in charge of their own learning, and we encourage ‘The Characteristics of Effective Learning’, where we want children to show motivation, think for themselves and have great engagement in what they ‘plan’ to do.  In all elements of our day, we have lots of opportunities for play and child-led learning.

To learn well, children must approach opportunities with curiosity, energy and enthusiasm.  It is important that children understand that their ideas and play is important, and we want them to follow through with their plans. Our continuous provision, both indoors and outdoors, is carefully thought out to cover our PRIME and SPECIFIC areas, as well as the needs and next steps of the children, which they access during the day.

There are two classes in each year group (A and B) and we do lots of things together. Our teachers work together to make sure we get the same experiences.

Our Adults

Class Teachers: Mrs Clydesdale

Teaching Assistants: Miss Mather, Miss Maddison & Miss Swinburne (Apprentice TA)

Timings

All doors on the main school yard will be opened at 8:45am by a member of staff. Children can come into school anytime between 8:45am and 8.55am via their classroom door where their teacher will be waiting for them.  We encourage a soft start, where children hang up their coats, self-register and then access provision before coming to the carpet for message board and group time. The register will be taken at 8.55am.

If any children arrive after the yard doors close at 8.55am, they are to enter school via the main entrance and report to the office.

Children can be collected from their designated door on the main school yard at 3:15pm.

Homework

Each week on SeeSaw there will be a practical home learning task. This is to extend children’s learning as well as building links with home and school. Children love to share their work in class with their friends. This is also a way that we are able to welcome and encourage children to see their similarities and differences and share their world with peers.
