Ambassador Roles
Ambassadors apply for the role and then a democratic vote by their peers is held to choose from all the applications. There is one ambassador for each class in years 2 to 6. Due to the nature of the role undertaken by the mental health ambassadors, they apply for the position and then are interviewed by staff on the mental health team. Please see below for details of the different roles of each of the ambassadors. We are a Rights Respecting school, so all roles are linked to the relevant articles from the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Class Ambassadors

Help the class teacher.

Set an example and follow school rules .

Find and collate information about each class e.g. after school clubs.

Help with conflict resolution .

Help keep the classroom tidy and organised .

Consider what helps everyone learn in each class .

Help class to understand and embed school rules and values .

Play Ambassadors

Play an important role in ensuing playtimes are creative, fun and safe for everyone.

Undergo training to learn about the play work principles and different play styles.

Work with staff to suggest ways to improve the school grounds for play, including adding new equipment or changing the layout.

Encourage their peers to look after and respect the school environment, keeping it clean and safe for everyone.

Model and share good examples of play.

Rights Respecting Ambassadors

Help children to recognise their rights.

Teach rights holders and duty bearers about their rights.

Highlight the importance of recognising everyone’s rights during our school day.

Be role models to other children when it comes to their rights.

Work alongside other ambassadors to ensure that children’s rights are respected.

Advocate for other people’s rights.

Sports Ambassadors

Listen to feedback from their peers on what sports to deliver at lunchtime/after school.

Encourage their peers to take part in physical activity.

Understand the importance of physical activity and how often you should exercise each day in and out of school.

To organise equipment prior to delivering sessions.

Lead activities at lunchtime.

Praise pupils that are excelling/trying hard in sessions that they are running.

Support staff in the delivery of sporting after school clubs.

Provide an obstacle course that changes weekly.

Safety Ambassadors

Provide ideas for keeping in school safe (road safety, stranger danger and safeguarding).

Involved in developing risk assessments in school.

Assist in health and safety tours.

Feedback in assembly from safety drills.

Reading Ambassadors

Ensure that class book area is representative of class interests,

Collect information from children in their class regarding books they have enjoyed.

Give recommendations to classmates about books.

Be responsible for reporting information to English Lead about new book requests for the library.

Helping classmates loan books using the Libresoft system.

Help promote Reading events in school such as World Book Day and the Book Fair.

Make decisions on behalf of classmates about how to celebrate World Book Day.

Work together to consider how reading can be incorporated into other areas of school.

Cyber Ambassadors

Help to organise computing resources.

To help promote E-safety in school by informing Miss Langman (computing lead) of any online safety concerns.

To provide emotional support and advice to anyone who has witnessed something distressing online and report it to the appropriate person.

To monitor use of iPads during lessons and feedback any relevant observations to Miss Langman.
