Tuesday

What makes a good adventure story?

Today you are going to become the teacher and mark an example of an adventure story (which is what you will be writing later this week!)

Familiarise yourself with the checklist, as this is what you will be looking for in the pupil’s work.

Read the text and highlight or underline examples of where they have included the features.

Afterwards, assess their writing. Think of two things that you enjoyed about their story and one thing that they could do next time to improve their work.

Today we are going to recap our knowledge on percentages.  Before you start, complete the daily flashback, which we have attached in the resources below. Follow the teaching lesson and complete the tasks as you go.

https://vimeo.com/492101741

The worksheets to do afterwards have been listed below on our resources link.

Science – Inheritance

Today you will be examining evidence demonstrating how living things have evolved over time.  Follow the teaching power point, which can be found in the Science Resource folder for today.

There are two tasks to complete, firstly about fossilisation and secondly examining evidence to explain how plants and animals have adapted over time.

Wednesday

Planning

Today you are going to plan your own adventure story based on our class book ‘Journey to The River Sea.’

Think about all of the work that you have done so far on our story. Consider what you have learning about the characters and the setting and using effective language to describe these to the reader.

Where do you think the story will go next?

Use the story mountain listed in today’s English Resources folder to plan what you think will happen to Maia in the Amazon.

Next, have a try at the activity on building tension for the reader, to help you when you start writing your story tomorrow.

In today’s lesson, we will be looking at the relationship between fractions and percentages.

Complete your daily flashback first for some revision and then follow the lesson, answering the questions as you go.

https://vimeo.com/492449530

Complete the follow up activities which are listed below in our resources folder for today.

Topic

Today we are thinking about how our coastlines can be changed by water and weather over time.

Work through the power point slides making sure you click the play buttons in the corner of some of the slides taking you to some video clips.

Once you have done this complete your task in the resources folder below.

Use your plan to help guide you through your introduction and build-up of your story.

Today, our learning intention is to find equivalent fractions decimals and percentages.

Complete your daily flashback first for some revision and then follow the lesson, answering the questions as you go.

https://vimeo.com/492474663

Friday

Writing

Today, you are going to be writing the rest of your adventure story.

Think back to the work that you did on creating tension in your writing for the reader.

How are you going to include these features into your writing as you write the climax? How are you going to make the reader desperate to know more?

Use your plan to help guide you through your climax and ending of your story.

Today we are practising finding equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages.

Complete your daily flashback first for some revision then have a go at your tasks.  Watching yesterdays video link as a recap may help.

Now complete the follow up activities which are listed below in our resources folder for today.

Topic

In today’s lesson, we are going to be learning all about dams.
