Y5 I

Welcome to Year 5I!

I am Miss Ibinson and I will be your teacher this year. I have been at Lingey House for 3 years now; two years in Year 4 and this is my second year in Year 5. I am a huge fan of creative and fun lessons and I can't wait to show you what we have in store for you over the next 9 months.

Our fantastic teaching assistants this year are Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Marsden; they will be helping us to be the absolute best we can be and learning lots of amazing, new things.

I am sure we are going to have the best year yet!

Politics into School

Over the last few weeks, we have had Jack and Mel coming in every Friday from Durham University to teach us all about politics.

This week we did a mock debate over whether zoos should be banned!

Family Assembly

Today we had the pleasure of our friends and family joining us for our Family Assembly all about Earth and Space.

We have been studying this in Science this half term and it was also World Space Week - so it was meant to be!

We explained which planets make up our solar system and what their unique features were.

We then sand Rocketman by Elton John which was all about how an astronaut might feel being alone out in space.

We finished by sharing our space themed poems that we had written inspired by "Sailing out to Space" by Gareth Lancaster.

Primary2Uni - Today, year 5 visited Sunderland University to take a tour of their campus' and take part in some careers activities.
