Welcome to Y3C

I have been thoroughly enjoying my first few weeks with my new class. They have already been impressing me by working incredibly hard and I know they will continue to do so throughout the year.

Keep an eye on this page, and I will try and keep it updated with ideas to support learning and photos of what we have been up to!

Miss Clarke

Today we got lucky with the weather and enjoyed creating maps of the park in the sunshine!

Fitness Day

Today we had a session with Nicola Noble, who works for the Gateshead SSP. We had a session focussed on improving stamina and fitness levels. It was to encourage exercise at home with little to no equipment. We had a fantastic time and our hearts were racing in the end!

Y3C tested their Viking Boats. Happily, not one sank!

On Tuesday 14th May, we took advantage of the sunshine and took part in an intra-school rounders competition along with 3B.

Bede’s World

This is not somewhere I have visited (yet!) but if anyone fancies a weekend outing this is directly linked to our topic:

Overnight Oats Time

Year 3 really enjoyed their overnight oats today! We learned this is a very cheap and very healthy way to start the day. They just need to remember to put their oats to soak in milk in the fridge before bed.

They then chose from honey, cinnamon, berries, apple, mango or banana to add.

I have said there are jewels on offer for anyone who can tell me about their overnight oats combo that they have tried over Easter!

Concentrating faces for designing our tea light holders!

Making volcanoes as part of both topic and science week!

Owen had the chance to be a Roman slave, learning to take off a toga, then the whole class learned marching instructions in Roman!

Times Tables

Make sure you are still practicing your times tables. The tables to focus on are your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables. You could continue to use the links below, or see what free apps you can find for a phone, ipad or tablet if one of your family has one.

Yet more 3 times table badge winners! Keep up the good work!

3 times table button badges already!

Save Our Oceans

As part of National Poetry Week, Year 3 have been learning about the ever more serious problem of plastics in our oceans. They each wrote a poem to try and help make people aware of this problem and persuade people to both recycle and reduce their plastic use. Here is a selection of some of the poems. What plastic habits could you change?
