Welcome to Year 3 Home Learning

Hi Everyone,

We have produced a home learning grid that has links to videos, website and worksheets to help complete the task when required. Please note we have planned the work so it can be accessed online as we appreciate that many children will be accessing it using a phone or a tablet.  None of the worksheets will require printing, there is a worksheet each day for maths but the majority of these questions should be able to be answered on to a sheet of paper if the sheet is displayed on the screen. We would love to see pictures of you working and the work you have completed so please email them to us y3lhps@gatedu.org. Please feel free to email with any queries.

Thanks

Mr Rippon & Mrs Flowdy

Roman Myths

For the next few weeks we will explore myths, retell them and write our own.

Read the myth of Romulus and Remus (see resources). Use this PowerPoint to help you to break down the story in to key parts. You will then do a picture version of the myth to help you to re-tell the story verbally.  The more you can re-tell it, the easier it will make your writing later in the week.

In addition to the work below please access Rockstars for 20 minutes each day.

Warm up- Rockstars 5 sessions

Multiply 2 digits by 1 digit (exchange)

Today there will be an exchange needed so make sure you are confident doing calculations with no exchange first such as 21 x 3 or 14 x 2.

There is a worksheet here (ignore it in the video when it says there isn’t one)

 Science – Healthy Eating

Click here for a lesson all about nutrition this will explain about what we need to eat and why we need different food groups. Complete the AEIOU task which is explained in the video.  Look at the diet plan that you completed last week and decide if you have a balanced diet. Can you suggest any changes to make it better? These activities are just a bit of fun if you’d like to give them a try.

French Challenge - Can you think of or find any facts about France? Here is a video with a short introduction to this brilliant country.

Look in the Week 3 resources to find a fun True or False quiz about France.

See the PDF file in the resources to show how to do some drawings of Celtic knots. We would love to see your deigns.

If you are going for a walk around your local area make a short scavenger hunt. Write some things down that your children could spot on the way e.g  green gate, a blue front door, a cat, a green tree taller than you.

Using empty tin cans, empty water bottles or even bits of paper write multiples of your times tables on them. Call out a questions and race to shoot the correct answer with a dart gun, water pistol (outside) or throw some rolled up socks. You could adapt this using other numbers and encourage children to add up their score.

Compete at least 5 garage sessions throughout the day on Timetable Rockstars for the chance to move up a level.

Multiply 2 digits by 1 digit – practice and/or problem solving.

Using formal written multiplication is a really tricky concept that requires lots of work.  Today there is a presentation to work through.  Everyone will be at all different stages so you have a choice of work:

There are questions just to keep practising the written method here.

IF you are feeling confident with the method try the problem solving work.

History- Celtic daily  life

Over the next few weeks you will learn about some of the Bible stories which tell us about miracles that Jesus performed. Read this Bible story of how Jesus healed a blind man. Re-tell it in your own words. You can draw a picture and write it out or why not break it down into key parts and do a picture and a paragraph of writing to go with each part.
