Welcome to Y1B
Since we have been looking at animals and writing letters to the WWF in our Writing lessons this half term, Pippa Bell came to visit our class to show us lots of famous art work which included animals.
She helped us carefully look for details and clues in the paintings and practise our skills.
The big bad Wolf
As part of our materials Science topic, the children were put into groups and given a challenge. They were each given one material to try and build a house with, strong enough for the Wolf not to blow down (wood, straw, brick and paper).
The children made predictions of which house would be the sturdiest and then were put to the test!
The New Lingey House
This term, we have moved into our brand new school. The children in Year 1B have settled in extremely well and are thoroughly enjoying being in their new classroom and new school setting.
Our visit to the island
During our topic of islands, we visited our local park, Oliver Henderson, to see our very own island.
We looked carefully at its features and drew sketches of the island in our sketch books.
Y1B get sporty!
We took part in a Multi Skills event at Heworth School, working with the Junior Leaders to complete lots of different and exciting activities in groups.
We worked alongside lots of other schools, making new friends and learning new skills!
During Outdoor Learning Week, we visited the Washington Wetlands Centre, looking around for signs of Autumn. We took part in lots of activities, such as; pond dipping, mini beast hunts, animal feeding and bird watching.
