World Book Day 2021

Thank you for all of your support on World Book Day. We hope you had a lovely day sharing an enjoyment of reading. Here are the answers to the World Book Day quiz. How many did you get right?
Can I say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has dressed up for World Book Day and to all who are taking part in our book themed celebrations. World Book Day isn't just a day where we wear costumes, it has an important message behind it. Reading is a vital skill and it helps us in so many ways. At Lingey House we want our pupils to develop a life-long love for reading and this is one of the many ways we get to promote the enjoyment reading can give us. Reading for just 20 mins each day has proven to have a huge impact on our children's success. So let's get immersed in a day of book fun and promote the enjoyment reading can bring...

For your chance to win a £50 WHSmith voucher, all you have to do is complete the book themed quiz posted below and email it to lhpsevents@gatedu.org with your child’s name and class on it. Simple! Entries close on Monday 8th March at 9am. Winners will be announced on the Friday Newsletter and on our Facebook page!

Good luck everyone!

Head over to our Facebook page and have some fun guessing who our Masked Readers are! Videos will be posted throughout the day so keep checking! They are all teachers in school, can you guess who it is? Pause the video and comment who you think it is below before continuing. Did you get it right? We had lots of fun making these videos so we hope you have lots of fun guessing who we are!

There will also be book polls for you to get involved with and we would love to know about your favourite stories (both adults and children)! Feel free to recommend some of your favourites and enjoy taking a trip down memory lane!

We want to see your costumes or the items you have dressed up! Send your photos to lhpsevents@gatedu.org and we will post them here in a photo gallery.

Remember there are lots of live sessions that are running during the week of World Book Day so register for free and enjoy!

On Thursday 4th March 2021 BBC Teach are holding a special live lesson at 11.30am aimed at primary pupils to celebrate books and share a story. The lesson will include looking at themes in stories and how to identify them, hearing about the stories you've been reading and some of your favourite themes, and meeting some of the incredible people that write about them. To wrap up the Live Lesson, there will be a live question and answer session with comedian and author of the Little Badman series, Humza Arshad.
