School Meals

School Meals

Our school lunches are provided by Gateshead Council’s School Meals Service.  Every child in Reception – Year 2 receives a Universal Free School meal.  The children have a daily choice of 4 meal options on a 3-week rolling menu.

Once the children move up into Y3, parents are required to pay for any meals provided at school.  Following the introduction of ParentPay in September 2020, the school no longer accepts payment for school meals by cash or cheque.  Parents will need to activate an online account with ParentPay.  Details and activation letters are available from the school office.

Instead of having a school meal, children in Y3 – Y6 may either bring a packed lunch or go home for lunch.  For security reasons we ask that parents make a written request if their child will be leaving the school premises at lunchtime.

Free School Meals

Some families will be eligible to receive free school meals.  Application forms can be collected from the school office or downloaded from the school website.  The completed application form should be forwarded to Welfare Benefits at Gateshead Civic Centre together with documentary evidence of income support or other qualifying benefits.

It is important that all parents of children from Reception to Year 6 make an application if they think that they may be entitled to Free School Meals.  The school receives additional funding for every child who is eligible which makes a big difference to the school budget.
