Friday 29th January

Good morning everyone and happy Friday!

We hope you have enjoyed learning about how people help us. We would like you to join us in saying thank you to your adults who have been helping you with your home learning.

Today we would like you to read and write some of the words from the power point. We have also uploaded two tricky word songs. I wonder if you can write any tricky words. If you would like a Friday reading challenge, please see below.

We have included an interactive maths game for you to play and a quiz about people who help us.

We know how much you all enjoy P.E. with Tom, so he has created a little challenge for you (the link is below).

Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Today we will be learning how fire fighters help us. We have uploaded a power point to read through with an adult. One of your tasks for today is to create your own fire engine and it’s up to you how creative you would like to be. You might like to draw a picture or make a fire engine using 2d shapes. You could even use some old egg boxes to create your fire engine.

In maths, we are continuing to find the total by combining two groups together. We have uploaded a home learning template which has some lovely ideas for you to try at home.

We have also uploaded a song for you to sing with an adult. I wonder if you could create some actions for the song.

Good morning everyone!

Today we are learning all about being a postal worker. Watch the video of Miss Walsham reading the non-fiction book all about how they help us.

We would like you to write your own card or postcard to someone else in your house. You could then deliver it to them just like a postal worker would.

Postbox addition- see the picture below which explains how to complete this task. You will need a box and 10 envelopes/ folded pieces of paper. Your child could decorate them to look like real letters.

We have also attached today's phonic videos for you to practise your new sounds.

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone.

Miss Walsham will be reading a non-fiction text about vets. Can you tell your adult about a vet? How do they help animals? Can you draw a picture of some pets and label them? Would you like to look after an animal when you are older?

In maths you will be learning about the part/part whole model and combing groups to find a total. We have uploaded a power point to help you and some challenges if you would like to try them.

We would like you to continue with your daily phonics session and play some of the phonics games (links provided below) which will help you develop your reading skills. The phonics play username is jan21 and the password is home. There are some other phonics games on the website which you might like to try. In addition to the above tasks, we have provided a sorting activity. Can you sort the clothes into summer or winter clothes.

Have great day.

Monday 25th January

Good morning boys and girls. We hope you enjoyed your home learning last week. Thank you for your fantastic Superworm work! This week, we will be looking at some non-fiction texts. These texts will help us learn how people help us such as a vet, bus driver or nurse. Your literacy this week is draw a picture of someone who helps you. This could be a bus driver, shopkeeper or your adult who is helping you with your home learning. Once you have drawn your picture, we would like you to label it.

I wonder if you can make your own role play area. You could maybe paint a box red and change it into a bus to collect some passengers. We have uploaded the home learning grid for his week and we will be adding some additional activities daily for you to complete. Good luck.

Friday 22nd January

Good morning everyone!

It is our last day of home learning for this week! Hope you’ve all enjoyed our Superworm activities!

Today’s Math’s challenge is to draw a big worm. We would like you to then decorate your worm using a repeated pattern. For example red, green, blue, red, green, blue… or yellow, yellow, green, yellow, yellow, green. If you want to you could draw pictures for your repeated pattern such as: square, triangle, circle, square, triangle, circle…

Let’s get creative this Friday! Can you make your own Superworm? You might want to draw, build or construct your Superworm using lots of different materials that you have at home. Be as creative as you want! Don’t forget to send us some pictures of your lovely artwork!

Today’s phonic lessons are attached below. Can you practise writing today’s sound? Can you find or draw pictures of anything that has today’s sound in it?

Phonic challenge: Write all the sounds you have learnt this week on separate pieces of paper. Spread them out on the floor. Ask a grown-up or an older brother or sister to call out a sound. Can you find it? When you do, stomp your foot on it!

Keep safe and have a lovely weekend!

Thursday 21st January

Good morning everyone!

We are so proud of how well you have all been working at home this week!

Today’s Maths challenge is to use positional language. Have a look at the PowerPoint where the worm is sitting in different places. Can you use positional language to describe where the worm is? For example: The worm is behind the plant pot.

After you have completed that, you could get one of your own toys and put them in different places- can you tell your grown-up where your toy is, using positional language?

Storytime with Miss Walsham. This week you have been reading Superworm by Julia Donaldson so we thought you might enjoy listening to another one of her books- The Snail and the Whale. Have you heard this one before? Can you hear any of the rhyming words in the story?

Just like last week's story, Superworm likes to help people. Supertato had his own costume to show he was a superhero. Can you design a superhero costume for Superworm to wear?

We have also attached your next phonic videos. Keep practising those sounds and reading as much as possible at home!

See you back here tomorrow!

Tuesday 19th January

Good morning everyone. We hope you are all enjoying our story of the week 'Superworm'.

Today we have some lovely activities for you to do at home.

Today’s Maths challenge is to make some different sized worms. You could use cooked spaghetti, play-doh, string, strips of paper, etc. to make your worms. Can you order them from smallest to largest? Can you measure them using a ruler or a tape measure? Can you find things around your house which are the same length as some of your worms? See the pictures below to help.

We have also included a fun Superworm game for you to play too!

Normally we would have one of our PE sessions on a Tuesday, so today we have brought it to your homes. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Yoga. Enjoy relaxing and exercising while listening to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

We have also attached the next videos for you to practise your new phonic sounds.

Keep up the great work and don’t forget to send in pictures of what you’re getting up to!

Monday 18th January:

Good morning everyone! We hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for another week of home learning.

This week our story is Superworm by Julia Donaldson.

For Literacy this week we would like you to look at the two images on the home learning grid and write about what the pictures show. You could write initial sounds (h for hat), cvc words- hat, or a simple caption could be 'hat on his head.'

We would love for you to draw us some pictures of your favourite parts of the story or your favourite character!

In Maths this week we will be uploading a different daily challenge. Each one will be linked to Superworm!

Today's task is to draw some big worms (big enough to write numbers in), we would then like you to write the numbers 1 to 10 in a worm. In your other worms could you write numbers even further than 10? Or could you start on a different number and count up from there? (For example: 3 4 5 6 7 ....)

Please continue working super hard with your phonics and reading. We have attached the videos for the next phonic sounds to practise.

Thank you for all the wonderful photos you have been sending in. Keep up the great work everyone!

Good morning everyone

Well done everyone for completing another week of home learning. We hope you enjoyed the squiggle session with Miss Ingram and the Troll story with Mrs McCallum. Today we have uploaded a story called Carrot Club. Can you tell an adult why the other vegetables were sad? What did the carrots do at the end of the story? Can you grow your own carrots? (Please see link below). We have also included two quizzes for you to try with an adult. The first one is linked to the story and the second one is a 2d shape quiz. We have also uploaded your daily phonics session below.

Wednesday 13th January

Good morning everyone.

We are very proud of how hard you are working at home. We have received lots of amazing pictures of your super hero characters along with your fantastic writing. We will post these on this web page as often as we can, so you can see what your friends have been up to.

Yesterday, lots of you completed the yoga session which helps us stay healthy. The task for today is to make a healthy and unhealthy packed lunch. These could be items you have at home or you could draw a picture of two packed lunches labelled healthy and unhealthy. Then you can draw some healthy and unhealthy foods in the packed lunches. As a challenge you could try and label them.  We would also like you to go on a shape hunt and look for everyday objects which are similar to shapes e.g a round clock is similar to a circle. We have attached a powerpoint to give you some ideas. Good luck!

Week 2 photos

Monday 11th January

Good morning everyone!

We hope you are ready for another week of home learning. This week the story is Supertato and we would like you to draw your own superhero fruit or vegetable character. You next job is to label it. This could be the colours you have used or how many legs they have etc. We would love to see some pictures of them, please send them in to the above email address. Thank you for all the lovely photos we have received so far. We are exploring 2d shapes this week and we will be talking about their properties, such as how many sides they have. We would usually have Forest School on a Monday and unfortunately, we cannot attend so Mrs Gray has provided a short video clip for you to watch (please see below for the link). This week, we would be making bird feeders and Mrs Gray has provided an activity that you may like to try with an adult at home.  Please continue to work hard with your phonics and reading. We have attached a link for the next phonics sounds to practise.
