As part of their creative curriculum, 'Can Buildings Talk? ', Yr3/4 have been looking at circuits and electricity. Children learnt about the dangers of electricity and how switches help make buildings energy efficient. Children created their own circuits by using the correct symbols and then constructed the components to create the circuits. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the hands on experience and demonstrated a potential to be excellent electricians of the future!

YR's Newspaper office-The Lingey gazette

Recpetion have a new newspaper office in their classroom. It is called the Lingey gazette!
The children have been working really hard in the office.
When the children came back after half term they were curious to see what was happening in the staffroom. We sent two reporters from the Lingey Gazette to investigate.

Swimming Gala

Pupils will be taking to the water on Wednesday 3rd March for trials for this year's swimming team.

We wish all pupils good luck and are confident that whoever is chosen will perform very well at this year's gala.

Year 5 Young Enterprise

18 lucky children from year 5 have been chosen to take part in a Young Enterprise Project.
The topic of the project is 'Our Nation'.
Today they have been learning what the different names of our nation mean and about the importance of the location of different businesses.

They worked very hard with David Buffham (from the Bank of England) and are looking forward to their next session which is about creating supply chains.

Lingey vs The Toon!

On Saturday 27th February ex Lingey House pupil Danny Graham played the full 90 minutes of Watford's Championship match against Newcastle United.

Danny attended Lingey House between 1990-1997. He began his professional career with Middlesbrough, before moving on to Carlisle United and then to Watford last summer.

He has scored 8 goals so far for Watford this season, but didn't add to his total yesterday as Newcastle ran out 2-1 winners.

National Sing Up Day

Children of Lingey House enjoyed a wonderful singing assembly on Wednesday to mark National Sing Up Day. Children from each class took turns to sing their allocated songs to each other. All the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the event and look forward to next year’s event.

Fire Safety

Members of the Tyne & Wear Fire Service visited Lingey House on Tuesday 23rd February to give a fire safety talk to pupils from Y1 and from Y5 & Y6.

Pupils learnt about the job of a firefighter, about fire safety at home and at school and what to do should they ever discover a fire.

Pupils had the opportunity to dress as firefighters, to see a fire engine and to see photographs and dvd footage of the causes and effects of fires.

All staff and children from Lingey House would like to thank the fire fighters for visiting our school. We enjoyed the sessions and learnt some very important messages.

National Sing Up Day

National Sing Up Day takes place on Wednesday 24th February.

To mark the event Lingey House will be having a special 'singing' assembly. Each class will be performing a new song that they have learnt especially for the event.
