Our Y4/5, Y5/6 and Y6 children have been working on a creative curriculum topic: MIners and Banners which is closely linked with the Bicentenary Felling Pit disaster. Children have worked with the CLC to create Miners Comic strips and they have even dressed up as characters from that era and used green screen technology to make photos and videos of what it would have been like to live around that time.

Take a look at our photographs from the day.

On Friday lunchtime the Year 5's and 6's played their first friendly match against each other on the school field. The whole school showed their support for both teams by making rosettes for the teams they wished to support, staff joined in too.

The Year 6 team (Blue) helped the newly formed team Year 5 (Red) warm up for their match on Friday night after school. Victory was held for the Blue team...but we must remember it was only for fun!

In Year 4 we are currently researching and learning about the topic of ancient Egypt. So far we have thoroughly enjoyed investigating how the pyramids were made and how the ancient Egyptians communicated through the use of hieroglyphics. We have even had a chance to get up close and personal with characters taken from actual ancient Egyptian stories such as Rhodopus, the Pharaoh and Horus taken from the first ever story of Cinderella. We in year 4 are still very excited as next lesson we are finding out all about mummification we'll keep you up to date on all the gory facts!
